CATEGORIES COVERED.

As a social obligation on part of the Andhra Pradesh State Government, A.P.S.R.T.C. is extending various types of free/ concessional bus passes facility to different categories of commuters, to travel in the buses operating both in cities and mofussil areas. The brief gist of each category of passes is as under.

STUDENTS BELOW 12 YEARS OF AGE.

In pursuance of the policy of Andhra Pradesh State Government, the Corporation has implemented the facility of issuing free bus passes to all the students below 12 years of age w.e.f.01.02.1984, to travel free from the residence to school and back, irrespective of whether the institution is of Government, aided or a private one. This facility is providing upto 22kms in cities and 20kms in mofussil areas.

Eligibility: The school/ Institution shall be of Govt., Govt. aided or private registered one. The Head of the Institution shall certify the date of birth and bonafides of the students. Free route pass between residence and school will be issued by the nearest depot manager.

FREE TRAVEL BUS PASSES TO GIRL STUDYING UPTO CLASS X AND BELOW.

Based on the decision of the Government of Andhra Pradesh vide letter no.12540/Tr.III(2)/2000-1, dt.21.08.2000, the Corporation has implemented free travel facility to all girl students upto an upper age limit of 18 years, studying class X and below. This facility is extended for travel between the residence and School by ordinary services upto a maximum distance of 20 Kms in mofussil areas and 22 kms in cities.

Eligibility: Girl students upto an upper age limit of 18 years studying class X and below shall be issued with free route pass to travel from residence to school and back upto a maximum distance of 20 Kms in mofussil areas and 22 kms in cities. The students studying in Govt., Govt. aided or private registered school are eligible for which the Head of the School shall certify the date of birth and bonafides of the students.

STUDENT PASSES IN CITIES / TOWNS.

A. Student route concessional bus passes:

The students studying in colleges located in cities are issued with slab rated monthly, quarterly and yearly route bus passes for a minimum slab of 4kms to 22kms maximum.

B. Student General bus tickets:

The students are also issued with General bus tickets for monthly, quarterly and yearly on the strength of which they are allowed to perform unrestricted journeys within the city limits.

C. Students Special General bus tickets:

The Corporation is issuing special General bus tickets in cities to the students who are studying job oriented courses to travel within city limits. The prices of these bus passes are little higher than the tariffs of student general bus tickets.

D. Student Greater bus passes:

In addition to the above, the Corporation is providing Greater bus passes to the students to travel beyond city limits in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam cities. These pass holders are allowed to travel in city ordinary and Pallevelugu buses.

Eligibility: The School/ College/ higher educational and technical institution where the student is studying shall have recognition of the State or Central Govt. The courses shall be of full time in nature. The students shall not be in receipt of any stipend/ fellowship and should not have been employed. The institution shall have affiliation to any board or university of the state/ central Govt. which conducts examinations and issues certificates. The students shall obtain certification of the Head of the institution in the application form prescribed and submit to obtain the bus pass from the nearest Depot Manager

Student concessional bus passes in mofussil areas:

Students above 12 year of age studying in various schools/ colleges, Higher educational institutions, technical institutions including private unaided cooperative junior colleges and it is which are of the Government or recognized by the Andhra Pradesh state Government or Central Government or by the Government board or affiliated to university are issued slab rated route bus passes whose tariff is based on the distance involved, valid for travel by the ordinary buses only. These bus passes are issued for travel upto a maximum distance of 50kms.

EXCLUSIVE TRIPS TO SPECIAL SCHOOL / COLLEGES.

The Corporation operates exclusive buses to schools/ colleges, where the number of students utilizing the facility is not less than 42 for city ordinary and 50 for pallevelugu buses. This facility is available both in cities and mofussil areas.

Students numbering not less than 42 for city ordinary and 50 for pallevelugu buses willing to avail exclusive student bus passes shall be provided with exclusive bus facility. The minimum route length for operating the service is 20kms in cities and in mofussil areas. To operate exclusive buses, the tariff shall be collected for 42 seats for city ordinary and 50 seats for pallevelugu buses by taking the additional distance involved into consideration

PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED BUS PASSES.

The Corporation is issuing PHC passes to the following category of differently abled persons.

All PHC pass holders are allowed to travel free in all city services except Metro express and with 50% concession in all district services upto Ultra deluxe.

Eligibility:
Physically challenged persons shall produce certificate issued by the District Medical Board concerned. Based on the degree of disability issued by the District Medical Board, PHC passes would be provided. The validity of these bus passes is for 3 years.

JOURNALIST PASSES:

The Corporation has been issuing three types of Journalist passes to the accredited journalists.

A. District Journalist passes:- Journalists are allowed to travel free with in the district upto the product of Super Luxury.

B. State non AC passes:- Journalists are allowed to travel free within the district upto SLX and with 2/3 rd concession within the state upto SLX.

C. State AC passes:- Journalists are allowed to travel free in NTR and Guntur districts upto the product of SLX and with 2/3rd concession in all products where APSRTC buses are under operation.

BUS PASSES TO NGO's.

AS per the policy of the Government of Andhra Pradesh the NGOs i.e., Govt. employees working in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada are being issued monthly General bus passes for travel by the city/ suburban services operating in these cities to enable them to attend to their duties. The employees will pay 1/3rd cost of the General bus ticket while the balance 2/3rd cost is reimbursed by the Andhra Pradesh State Government.

Eligibility: AP State Government employees working in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada whose pay is below the scale of Rs. 44570-127480 (As per RPS-2022), are issued NGOs bus passes priced at Rs.340/- and Rs.480/- for city and sub-urban travel respectively. The controlling Officer will certify the bonafides of the NGO for obtaining this pass. The NGO will pay 1/3rd cost of the pass and the balance 2/3rd cost will be reimbursed by AP State Government.

AP Secretariat bus passes:

The Corporation is issuing concessional bus pass facility to the State Government employees to travel at free of cost within CRDA limits subject to the following terms and conditions.

1.The bus pass applicant shall be working in Secretariat/ Heads of Departments which are listed as Secretariat Departments/ HODs at www.codes.ap.gov.in .

2.AP Secretariat bus passes shall be issued to regular employees, contract employees and outsourced persons working @ AP Secretariat/ HoD Offices.

3.An amount of Rs.610/- shall be paid by the applicant along with bus pass application certified by the HoD of the concerned department.

4. Bus pass holders are permitted to travel at free of cost within CRDA limits up to Ultra Deluxe buses.

Concession to Senior Citizens:

The Corporation has been providing 25% concession to the Senior citizens aged 60 years and above in all products including AC.

Monthly General bus tickets:

These passes are issued in two categories viz., Ordinary and Metro Express validating the holders of the pass to perform unrestricted journeys by the services applicable for which it is valid and operating in that city.

Monthly General bus tickets are issued for travel by City Ordinary and Metro Express services at a monthly cost of Rs.1010/- and Rs.1140/- respectively. Holders of the pass are permitted unrestricted journey by the services for which the pass is valid.

Greater General bus pass tickets:

In addition to the General bus pass ticket, the Corporation has been providing Greater bus pass facility to the general commuters to travel beyond city limits with unrestricted journeys within a month.

The tariffs of these bus passes are:

Greater visakha & Krishnaveni bus pass tariff: Rs.1010 + Rs.100/- for every 2kms                                                                            beyond city limits.
Greater visakha Metro Express bus pass tariff: Rs.1010 + Rs.150/- for every 2kms                                                                           beyond city limits.
Greater Krishnaveni Metro Express bus pass tariff: Rs.1010 + Rs.120/- for every 2kms                                                                     beyond city limits.

Monthly general route bus passes:

Monthly route bus passes have been introduced for the benefit of general commuters to travel by the city ordinary services operating in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada w.e.f.01.04.2002. These passes are issued upto 4kms, 8kms, 12kms, 16kms, 18kms & 20kms. Tariff for these bus passes is fixed at 20 days normal fare. The holders of this bus passes will be charged 20 days (one up & one down) fare to perform journey on all days of the month.

Monthly Season Tickets:

Monthly season tickets are issued to the regular commuters in rural areas upto a maximum distance of 100kms (20 stages). These passes are of four types viz., Pallevelugu, Ultra pallevelugu, Express and Ultra Deluxe monthly season tickets. The tariffs of these passes are fixed basing on the distance the pass holder intends to travel from one stage to another.

Travel facilities for MLAs and MPs:

In accordance with the orders of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, the Corporation is allowing all the MLAs, Ex-MLAs, MLCs, Ex-MLCs, their spouses and MPs hailing from AP to travel free by all services of the Corporation. An attendant is allowed when MLA/ Ex-MLA/ MLC/ Ex-MLC or spouse of MLA/ Ex-MLA/ MLC/ Ex-MLC travel singly. When MLA/ Ex-MLA/ MLC/ Ex-MLC and spouse of MLA/ Ex-MLA/ MLC/ Ex-MLC travel together, they are not allowed to take one attendant.

Bus passes for Freedom Fighters:

In pursuance of the policy of the Government, the Corporation is issuing bus passes to all the Freedom Fighters of Andhra Pradesh who crossed 65 years of age and receiving pension either from the Government of Andhra Pradesh or from the Central Government. The Freedom Fighters holding bus passes are allowed to travel upto Super Luxury within the state.

Employees’’ Children:

As a welfare measure to the employees of the Corporation, all the children of the employees studying in schools/ colleges are extended student bus pass facility at an additional concession of 75% over the rates of bus passes charged to other students.
